St. Peter Cemetery was formed before the parish was founded only two years after Catholics came to the area. According to the marker on one of the entrances to the cemetery it was established in 1856. Though the first dates stone in the cemetery is that of John Wagner who passed away on April 30th, 1860. His stone marker along with other stones was either damaged or destroyed over the years and are buried under the cross in the middle of the cemetery. Unfortunately, some of these stones were not transcribed before being buried.
Ther are six priests buried in the St. Peter’s Cemetery among the 827 other recorded names. If you are seeking to find the grave sites of relatives there is a directory from 2012 available in the parish office.
